With regards to COVID-19 as directed by the state of NC information hub

All North Carolinians should get the latest information on COVID-19 directly from reliable sources. The COVID-19 outbreak has been accompanied by a flood of misinformation from unreliable sources. Be thoughtful about what you read or hear about the virus and make sure you are separating rumor from fact before you act. COVID-19 information from across the state, including about unemployment, can be found at http://www.nc.gov/covid19.

Nu-Dimensions YouthBuild

Working with Catawba County partners and resources, we strive to provide educational and professional experiences to participants between the ages of 16-24. We seek to provide critical support to those young adults whom have struggled academically or have experienced challenges making it more difficult to start their professional lives. Our culture of acceptance and understanding means every participant is granted the respect and support they deserve.

Services

Case Management and Job Development Services

Nu-Dimensions YouthBuild participants will receive one-on-one case management services to provide person-centered supportive services. Participants and the Case Manager work together to ensure that the participants needs are being meet throughout the program.

Participants will work with the job developer to create personalized employment portfolios to take with them long after they leave the YouthBuild Program. The employment portfolio includes a personalized resume. Other skills gained through job development services include interviewing and salary negotiation. We believe success starts with addressing the unique challenges facing each participant, and recognize that every participant is different in what they face.

Virtual and In-Class Education Opportunities

In this time of uncertainty caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic, our program developed to focus on a virtual learning design. Upon entry to the program, all participants are provided devices to ensure they are able to engage with the program, regardless of their internet accessibility, including hotspots and Chromebooks. Through virtual learning, participants also receive training through our partnership with Catawba Valley Community College to obtain their GED/High School Equivalency, NCCER training, OSHA, First Aid, and other certifications.

With Covid-19 protocols being lifted, YouthBuild is now offering in-class instruction for GED preparation, Job Development, and Leadership classes in a socially distanced classroom setting. Transportation is provided for participants in Catawba County. Participants in surrounding counties with reliable transportation will receive gas cards in order to ensure free transportation to the program.

Post-Program Engagement and Support

Once a participant has joined our program, they will always be considered part of the YouthBuild family. All participants will enjoy one year of direct follow up conducted by the job developer and case managers. Alumni of Nu-Dimensions YouthBuild are granted opportunities to take on mentorship roles for future classes and are encouraged to continue their leadership development through YouthBuild to support future generations.
